and probably ill continue (-: .well now my recommendation for a great rock/jazz composer/guitarist (from norway) and he goes by the name Terje Rypdal here is a review about him from a jazz magazine: "Don't be surprised if the first person who comes to mind is Jimi Hendrix. There are few electric guitarists who have the ability to electrify an audience ... Rypdal possesses such talent." Jazziz here is website: http://www.jeffgower.com/rypdal.html "I have a good idea every two years. Give me a topic, I will give you the idea!". - fritz zwicky

Uhg, jazz...Funny thing is that many if not most of these new metal bands in masks and makeup are accomplished jazz musicians, which explains some of the odd time signatures. Now, here's Zero's guide to buying new music...find a small local store, non-chain if possible, and get the staff to learn your musical tastes. Then, you can basically let them do your shopping for you. I've done that for the last two years, and have not only expanded my musical horizons, but I've also had the pleasure of hearing and seeing some popular bands before they got really big.Send hate mail to Stephen (because I don't wanna hear it!)

well for me it's through the web that i got a clue about those artists (and i'm not sure if i could use your advice about finding a loclal place where i can find cds of the guitarist i mentioned above but ill try, who knows (-: ). by the way there are a lot of guitarists and other artists who dont have a record label and publish their music with the help of the web. such an example is Jeff Gower who is Classical/Jazz Guitarist here is website: http://www.jeffgower.com/ "I have a good idea every two years. The local store idea isn't always possible, I just happened to get lucky, especially seeing as how I live in such a small town. I guess the web is a good place to find music...Send hate mail to Stephen (because I don't wanna hear it!)

Zargawee, I hate to say it, but I hate all the music you like. That's ok, because obviously most people do like it, so you're ok.Nothing fails like prayer...

Well I would have to say Santana is alright. Creed and NB are ok as well. However I prefer to dig a little further back (Santana excluded....as old as the hills..LOL )I prefer more of the rock from 60's-70's. Old KISS, Beatles, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, B-52's, and many more. My musical tastes are broad actually because I also listen to classical, country, metal, techno, big band, jazz, and more. I usually do not listen to pop (Britney, Nsync, etc), or rap. But most everything else I listen to when in the mood for it. "God wants Spiritual fruit not religious nuts" - Community Fellowship Baptist Church Sign Tog Neve

I live in a city that boasts the largest Arabic population in the USA. Some 60,000 people of middle east background {and growing daily} live here. Some of the music I've heard is just beautiful and very complecated. Having friends to explain the meanings, helped a lot in understanding it. So after reading this thread, I had to ask a friend where someone on line could find a good source of Arabic music. This is the link he gave me. http://www.live365.com/stations/34098I was also assured there is a underground music movement{more radical} with strong Arabic influences. But because of some of the words in it are considered to strong/wrong for the Islam faith..they won't be heard publicly. Just because someone is on the side of the angels doesn't mean they're a saint - sometimes it just means the angels happened to be walking in the same direction that day.

Despite blunt ism, , , and , I find myself liking rap. Somebody save me.Hmm...don't like Creed because they're a christian band, but I like P.O.D. even though they are. Can't stand anything pop. You'll find that my beliefs aren't even close to being reflected in my music. Eminem, System of a Down, Offspring. Some variety there definitely. Eminem is a homophobic wife beater, System of a Down tells me to take things on faith, the Offspring sing about the monotonous teen subjects. Go figure. "God does not play dice" --Einstein. I actually find that a lot of the bands that I like do reflect my views in some ways, like Fear Factory, Metallica, Sepultura's "Chaos AD" CD, Machine Head, Marylin Manson, etc. Obviously, I don't agree with all they say, and there are bands that I like whose lyrical meanings I don't care for at all.I don't know what you mean about The Offspring being all about monotonous teen subjects. They express a a good amount of views in some of their songs that I generally agree with. ----------------------------------------------------- Just consider me a violent Gandhi.

actually arabic music is really cool, u know the "derbakkeh" and all the musical instrument they use are a litle odd for people in the west, and they find it enjoying personally i don't really like arabic music, i don't enjoy it at all, cause all the songs have the same meaning, and they are all about love, and they all have the same way of music, so u don't have any arabic Rock, or Rap, only Pop and some techno !Minds Beat The Power (ADVERTISE HERE)
