I have an idea for PF. How about creating a FAQ section? The idea is for a frequently asked questions page, that can provide mainstream science answers to physics related questions. Since a lot of people come to these forums looking to learn about quantum mechanics, cosmology and other complex fields, this FAQ would serve as a very useful resource.Such a FAQ would NOT be made to discourage alternative ideas of theories. Instead, it would simply be a reference point. There are a lot of knowledgeable members here who could contribute to a FAQ like that, and I really think it would be a worthwhile project.

Interesting, I'll look into the programming possibilities. I think your most likely thinking of a Knowledge Base right?admin@physicsforums.com http://www.physicspost.com

Yes, something as a reference point like that. Some simple html pages should do.

Yea..and we used to have a physics dictionary that was nice..what happened to that?============= This space intentionally left blank. Dave "dav2008" Groysman

Actually i think that the a FAQ page will be too much work for nothing. If a person comes to the forums looking for a certain topic (That he thinks was asked before, IOW it is Frequently Asked (FA)), then he simply can use the 'search' feature to find all the topics related to what he was looking for.Adding a FAQ page will be lot of work, and will not be a realy serving change (since 'search' can be used instead). You've gotta be japaneese !

Since the search function usually times out before you can get a result, I think a FAQ would be better. There is another reason to consider as well though. Topics on certain matters, often turn out to be a debate. This can be very confusing if one is trying to learn up on the subject. A mainstream FAQ would thus serve as a good reference point.
