I have a compaq notebook computer and don't get me wrong I love it, but there is one part that I absolutely hate. Whenever I type my palms manage to come close enough to the little mouse finger mover arounder thing (?) to activate it and move the cursor somewhere else in the message. So all the sudden I'm typing jibberish in the middle of some other paragraph. Does anyone else with labtops experience this same problem?

It's called the touchpad. And no, my laptop crashes too often for me to reach that stage. Maybe you should raise it with compaq's customer relations and feedback section?

I don't know man, I love everything else about mine, its never crashed once on me, its super fast was relatively cheap for what came with it and is all around a good machine, only thing I'd change is having one of those little red joystick mouses between the g,h, and b keys instead of the stupid touch pad.

Wow ! so all the guys here have notebooks ...

I don't know how to solve the problem, but temporarly you may want to use the arrows and the PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN, HOME and END buttons on the keyboard, it may seem hard at the begining but it worths the hardness of it.

Always check the INSERT button to see wether it is off or on (my insert button is so near to teh back space button that i always press it accidently, and suddenly i find myself overwritting some of what i types instead of actually adding to it )

You could also disable the touchpad and plug in a real mouse.

just a thought...

Same with a USB keyboard.
