We all know that ordinary water is composed of hydrogen and oxygen molecules. Hydrogen could be used as a source of energy. Could you please suggest some of the safest ways of extracting the hydrogen gas to be used as an energy source? I am planning to use it as a car fuel. However, hydrogen could explode, so, any suggestions?

i remember doing that in a chemistry lab in highschool. it was really easy--i don't remember the specifics, but i think all we did was some sort of redox reaction by passing a current through the water. we had two gas traps at either side, and then ignited the hydrogen and oxygen after we collected enough gas. i don't know how efficient it is, but you might give it a whirl.

Extracting Hydrogen is not too difficult a concept. I am not sure how available 'Kits' are to do it with or anything like that, but I know its not too hard. And the worrying about it being explosive. Guess what. So is petrol.Suggestion: Don't make any sparks near it. Prove me wrong, I might learn something.
