I voted yes, but I DO think that it should be a once-in-a-while thing (maybe a week per month?) to keep the novelty going and to not divert all the discussions to the chat room. Why are chemists great for solving problems? They have all the solutions

I was thinking that it should just be permanent, but well.. having it on like 2 days a week actually really would keep the novelty factor in there...It'd be like a TV program "Oh sorry, can't talk tonight, the chat rooms going off in Physics Forums! Can I call you back later?"

Does this mean I'm going to have to change my sleeping pattern on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I can actually come into the chat? --That's me!

Yeah, I agree with MSI. There are people here from all over the world, and more importantly, different time zones. What do you say Greg?www.dbzsc.com/vegeta34.jpg

3.00pm would be viable for me. 11.00 pm over here. Could make it. Couldn't really make much later though.

First of all i suggest to put Wednesday as one of the chat days, cause according to the forums stat, this is the most active day of the week. If there will be more than a single day of chat, i would suggest to make one day for the people in the west of the world, and one day for the people in the east of the world (that is, one day for 98% of the members, and another day for the other 2% ). This way if anyone from the east wants to talk to someone on the west, he will simply adjust himself to the time of the other chat event, i think it will be the most logical way of making chat .You've gotta be japaneese !

Jeez, wouldn't it just be better, and easier, for the chat event to go on all day on certain days of course?www.dbzsc.com/vegeta34.jpg

I don't agree, if the chat time is made too long, then you will not find any chat density , cause each person will enter at anytime, and this way no one will meet the other. On the other hand if only a time interval is set for chatting, you will find more poeple easier (Specially if the time interval is near to what people tend to enter anyway) You've gotta be japaneese !

Well , Nobody Planned For A Chat Event , I Just Wanted To Point That there's An Easier Way To Reach The Chat Place . And For The Link , I Forgot To Say That There Are Two Important Things You Should Have . 1- You Must Be Internet Explorer User 2- You Must Have mIRC Program Installed This Way , You Can Connect Easily --That's me! Though I see the benefits of having a chatroom, I do not see a need for Greg's server to be the host. There are a lot of issues with the times as well, due to the amount of people from different countries/continents. I think it would be easier to setup a channel on IRC somewhere (efnet or dalnet for example.) This saves bandwidth for Greg, has an open chatroom (ahem.. channel) for everyone and allows people to speak to others regardless of time. There are many of us in the US who stay up late and would be able to speak to members from other continents. For those of us who already know how to use IRC it would be no problem, and IRC is made in such a way that it would not be difficult to explain to someone who has never used it. So here are my recommendations:1. Create an IRC channel on efnet/dalnet/undernet/whatever 2. Add a small section on the website referencing the channel and giving server options (i.e. irc.prison.net, irc.easynews.com etc.) and a small tutorial about how to access the channel. Provide links for software download for each platform (Windows/Linux/Mac) so that everyone will have a client, not just windows users. Off the chain like a rebellious guanine nucleotide
